Where shutterbugs unite to share their wisdom, skills and resources
Who we are
The Camerazzi Community is an informal online community of photography enthusiasts and practitioners of all skills levels.
What we do
We turn guys and girls with cameras into photographers and photographers into artists.
How we do it
By mutually motivating, teaching, tipping, critting, challenging, showing, sampling and teasing each other into taking and making great photos.
The Camerazzi Facebook Page
The Page is a discussion forum where we post and discuss photos for 3 reasons:
• to Learn;
• to teach;
• to brag!
Open forum
Anyone who likes the Page can participate – just fall in. Utilise it and enjoy the page whether you are a complete novice, advanced amateur or a seasoned pro – we have all of these as active and dedicated members.
How we comment
Camerazzi has become almost legendary for straightforward, honest, uplifting comments and discussions without being rude. We comment on and discuss photos at face value – irrespective of who took it or what the circumstances were; we are not a praise-commando for only some people’s work; we do not have a “you-comment-on-mine-and-I’ll –comment-on-yours-mentality; we play the ball (the photo) and not the man (tog) and we abide by an unwritten rule of good manners unless you steal our members’ photos.
We love to differ, as there are no real absolutes in photography and comments are mostly personal opinions and opinions differ. Because anyone is entitled to an opinion, everyone can (and should) comment on any photo on the Camerazzi Page at any time, irrespective of your knowledge or how experienced or inexperienced the photographer may be.
Learn through commenting
We learn by getting, but also by making comments. You often learn as much or more from studying and commenting on other peoples images as from getting them to study and comment on yours.
To the newbies
Don’t hide behind an attitude that you don’t know enough or are not good enough yourself to comment on other people’s photos – the truth is that these ‘other people’ usually love and prefer the novice-comments as chances are very good that you would be much kinder on their work than I am. Also don’t shy away from posting because you are inexperienced – it is part of the learning curve and will help develop you as a tog in no time like many of our dedicated members bear testimony of.
To the guru’s
You are most welcome to inspire us with posts of your great works – please do so and care to pass a comment/crit and maybe share a tip or two with our budding friends to improve their skills, but also be open and prepared to get a crit or a nit or different opinion sometimes.
Our Loathes
We have a huge collective sense of humour at Camerazzi, however we are very intolerant of three issues:
• degrading remarks to or about the person of a photographer or a model;
• ego-inflated photographers with chips on their shoulders;
• people who steal our photos
Other than that, we are a great bunch.
Intellectual property
The author of a photo posted on the Camerazzi Page and/or related pages always retain all rights regarding such a photo. By posting you do however grant us a free license as a Page, as page owners, admins, moderators and members to repost or re-publish your image for discussion-, learning-, teaching purposes or for advertising/promoting Camerazzi sites, pages, events, activities, provided that the author is identified/acknowledged in such re-posts.
Happy shootings, happy postings and happy commenting!
